Palais Royale-Paris, France, oil, 13″ x 19”, (20 x 26″ framed), $2,900
About this month’s painting…
This Summer my travels have taken me to Paris, Milan, and Venice. The previous image shown here for August, “Jardins du Palais Royale, Paris” has sold I choose to present another small painting(13×19″ oil sketch) as the artwork for the rest of August-September 2019. This piece took its initial inspiration when I was out exploring in Venice and came upon this wonderful canal view of Santa maria della Salute. From the nearby foot path across the canal, I set up my easel. Painted on location, in this piece, I attempt to capture this essence of this with an economy of brushstrokes. Using a quick and loose brushwork provides a certain fluidity and summer ease to the painting. I love the light of the early morning on the architecture of the church, the sky and the canal. From this finished oil sketch, I intend to create a large piece from this on-site study. I hope you enjoy this piece for the joy of the summer season.
Thank you for your interest.
All the Best, Sean
